Arsenal appear to be in poll position to sign Brazilian hot property Lucas Silva with reports in Marca saying the Gunners have offered €15 million for the defensive midfielder and meeting his asking price.
Blanket coverage of Lucas Silva’s purported move to the Spanish capital in the Spanish press suggested that the South American was almost a Real Madrid player, with every detail complete except for the final fee with his club Cruzeiro.
Madrid wish to pay below the €15 million asking price, preferring to shell out €12m with €2m in add-ons. However, the President of Cruzeiro, Gilvan Tavares, said yesterday in an interview with Italian media outlet Calciomercato that there had been an initial proposal from Los Blancos, but that the figure they had quoted was too low.
“The absolute minimum starting price is €15 million,” Gilvan Tavares said. “There was an initial proposal from Real Madrid but it is an offer [that is] too low…if Inter or other clubs interested in him would beat the offer then we are ready to talk about it.”
If the report in Marca today is correct, then surely this would mean that the Gunners have offered enough to meet Cruzeiro’s asking price.
Does this mean we could be seeing Lucas Silva moving to the Emirates Stadium as soon as January?
