Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has admitted that he and his team-mates have a special motivation when playing against Arsenal due to a rivalry that has developed between the two clubs in recent years, the Daily Mirror reports.

Starting from Tony Pulis’ time in charge at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke have often been successful in getting under Arsenal’s skin with some physically aggressive play, which has also led to the infamous horror tackle from Ryan Shawcross that broke Aaron Ramsey’s leg back in 2010.
Stoke were victorious against the Gunners again this weekend, winning 3-2 after racing into a 3-0 lead before half time, and Crouch was in top form for the home side as he netted the opener after just 19 seconds.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool centre-forward added that the crowd often get the players fired up for this fixture, and that there is a motivation due to the words exchanged between the two teams in the recent past.
“Everything that surrounds this game, you can see why there are so many people here because it’s an important fixture,” he said.
“The crowd help. There’s a bit of history, words have been exchanged.”
