The Uruguay international has been linked with a move away from the French capital since the summer, but ended up staying.

However, reports have suggested that he is still unhappy in Paris, and will look to push through a move to the Gunners in the new year.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with moves for Cavani, but the prospect of linking up with Arsene Wenger and Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates makes Arsenal the striker’s preference.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is said to be ready to dip into the transfer market in January, though a defender and a defensive midfielder are believed to be his priorities.

Wenger has insisted that money is available should the right players be found, and now Cavani will ask PSG to lower his asking price to encourage the north Londoners to make a move.
