Liverpool Set To Lose Out To Ajax As Martin Odegaard Saga Drags On

Norwegian wonderkid now looking likely to join Dutch giants Ajax.

Liverpool look set to miss out on the signing of exciting 15 year-old wonderkid Martin Odegaard from Norwegian Tippeligaen outfit Stromsgodset, report the Mirror, with the teenager looking likely to sign a pre-contract agreement with Dutch giants Ajax – despite having trained with Liverpool and having been given a tour of the club’s ground and facilities in recent days.

Odegaard is amongst the most exciting young talents in world football right now, having become a regular for high flying Stromsgodset at such a young age and even having made his senior Norwegian debut whilst still 15 years old, with Odegaard’s potential sparking a scramble amongst elite European clubs to secure his signature.

Real Madrid and Liverpool were believed to be tussling over persuading Odegaard of the merits of joining them, whilst Celtic have also been involved due to manager Ronny Deila previously having worked with Odegaard at Stromsgodset, but it would appear that Ajax are going to win the race.

Odegaard turns sixteen in nine days and can sign a professional deal with a club, meaning that the next few days will represent the final attempt to persuade Odegaard of where his mind should be made up – although it would appear that he has eyes for Amsterdam.
