Nightmare: Manager Reveals He Signed Liverpool Flop Over Wilfried Bony

Premier League boss Sam Allardyce admits he chose to sign Liverpool’s Andy Carroll rather than Swansea hit man Wilfried Bony…

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that he opted to sign Andy Carroll from Liverpool for £15m rather than in form Swansea man Wilfried Bony in 2013.

The English boss told Alan Brazil on talkSPORT of his decision to bring in the crocked powerhouse rather than the excellent Ivorian.

Allardyce decided against signing Bony, with the Ivorian then moving to Premier League rivals Swansea City from Vitesse for £12m.

Bony has enjoyed a fantastic start to life in the Premier League, netting 16 times in his first season.

With Andy Carroll plagued with injuries since his move from Merseyside, the Hammers boss may now be regretting his decision somewhat.

The former Eredivisie forward is the joint top scorer in England for the 2014 calender year, level on goals with Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on 18.

In stark contrast, Carroll has failed to make much of an impact since joining the London based club; scoring just twice.
