Manchester United’s Exciting Post January Transfer Window XI With Hummels And Strootman Coming In, But No RVP

Van Gaal has not finished spending just yet.

After four successive Premier League victories things are starting to look a little more positive for Manchester United as they approach the January transfer window.

Yet despite this and the fact they spent almost £150m on new players over the summer, manager Louis van Gaal is still looking for more recruitment.

Here is how the Reds Devils starting XI could look if they sign all their preferred targets.

GK – David de Gea

Unless Real Madrid come in and swoop for the Spain international United have nothing to worry about between the sticks if this 24-year-old is playing.

RB – Nathaniel Clyne

With Rafael short on form and fitness options are limited at right-back and having impressed so much with Southampton in recent times this England international is being targeted.

CB – Phil Jones

Van Gaal has put Jones back in his preferred centre-back position and when fit the 22-year-old appears to be reveling there and could become a top-class talent in the role.

CB – Mats Hummels

Beyond the Englishman things look a little bleak though with none of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling or Marcos Rojo considered to be up to scratch and with Borussia Dortmund bottom of the Bundesliga this defender could be tempted by an Old Trafford switch.

LB – Luke Shaw

Still only 19-years-old this left-back has shown enough glimpses since arriving at United to suggest he could be a star for the club for years to come.

CDM – Daley Blind

One of the more modest purchases over the summer at £13.8m, Blind performs a very unselfish and important role protecting the back four.

CM – Marouane Fellaini

Was considered a flop following his £27.5m move from Everton in 2013, but under van Gaal the Belgium international has improved a lot and provides some real grit and physicality to the midfield.

CM – Kevin Strootman

Having worked with him with the Netherlands national team van Gaal knows this AS Roma ace well and it’s understood Strootman would like a reunion with the 63-year-old at the Theatre of Dreams.

CAM – Angel di Maria

Completed a British record £59.7m transfer to the Red Devils from Real Madrid over the summer and has done well since his arrival, but more will still be expected for such an inflated price.

ST – Radamel Falcao

It remains to be seen whether a cruciate ligament injury will stop Falcao being a success at United, but before that problem the Colombia international was one of the best goalscorers in world football.

ST – Wayne Rooney

Whilst Robin van Persie’s form is questionable, this England international appears to be taking his new role as captain very seriously and has been in fine form for club and country since being given the armband by both teams.
