Chelsea’s Petr Cech could be starting between the sticks at another Premier League club with reports linking the goalkeeper to a host of top European teams.
The Czech international has found himself displaced from the starting XI at Chelsea this season following the return of Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid.
CaughtOffside takes a look at the five most probable destinations for the 32 year old.
5) Arsenal
Despite media reports linking Cech with a move across London to the Emirates Stadium this transfer can be placed in the “never likely to happen” pile.
The Gunners simply can’t guarantee him the consistent first team football that he’s looking for.
Wojciech Szczesny is firm number one. Colombian no.1 David Ospina was bought just this summer to provide competition and play the cup games. And they also have impressive youngster Emiliano Martinez coming through the youth ranks.
Arsenal simply have no need for Cech.
4) Liverpool
With current keeper Simon Mignolet striking fear into the hearts of so many men it’s not surprising that Brendan Rodgers is said to be on the lookout for a new man between the sticks.
However, as much as Liverpool need him, you cannot see Petr Cech moving to any team in England. Any offer would surely be rejected out of hand.
If the Chelsea legend is to move you have to be imagine it will be out of the country and not in a way that could come back to haunt the Blues.
3) Roma
Roma are reportedly chasing Cech in the mind that their current number one Morgan De Sanctis will be 38 by the team the season ends and they would like a long term replacement.
Roma however may be more intrigued by the cheaper option of Fiorentina keeper Neto who’s current deal expires at the end of the season and would be the much cheaper option. Cech’s contract, however, ends in 2016.
2) Paris Saint Germain
PSG looks a good proposition for Cech with regular first team football reportedly able to be guaranteed with the French club also said to be willing to allow Cech’s personal goalkeeping coach to make the switch with him.
The Frenchman would have to cross the Channel but PSG believe with such close travel links between London and Paris they offer a great deal.
1) Chelsea
However, the unfortunate news for any supporters hoping to see that famous scrum cap on sale in their club shop is that Cech will still most likely be at Chelsea by this time next year.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has repeatedly denied any formal approaches for the Czech and believes his side need two world class keepers if they are to becoming the all conquering squad they are threatening to be.
