Reports in the Metro claim that the Reds are set to being talks with the Costa Rican World Cup star, and could complete a loan move during the January transfer window.

Swansea City and Everton are also interested in Campbell, who impressed for Greek side Olympiakos is last season’s Champions League, which saw him face Manchester United in the first knockout round.

The Reds are poised to make several new signings when the window re-opens, as manager Brendan Rodgers – who is a big admirer of Campbell – sets to right the wrongs of an uninspiring selection of summer buys.

Campbell is behind Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud in the Gunners first-team, while Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo are also providing competition for his quest to earn an attacking slot in the North London team.
