20) Burnley, 29 points, -3 points from last season (compared to Fulham)
As a promoted side, Burnley have taken one of last season’s relegated team’s spots. It doesn’t look good currently for the Clarets.
19) QPR, 29 points, -1 point from last season (compared to Cardiff City)
Same system as Burnley, but compared with Cardiff this time. The Rs have improved recently, and this could change for the better if they keep that up.
18) West Bromwich Albion, 29 points, -7 points from last season
The Baggies have been far worse than last season so far.
17) Leicester City, 34 points, +1 point from last season (compared to Norwich City)
Nigel Pearson’s side are doing better than relegated Norwich were at the moment.
16) Hull City, 36 points, -1 point from last season
The Tigers will need to turn around their poor form if they want to repeat the last campaign’s success.
15) Crystal Palace, 40 points, -5 points from last season
The Eagles have so far not matched their results against the same team’s from last year, although they are still showing the same fighting spirit.
14) Aston Villa, 41 points, +1 point from last season
The Midlands club have an impressive start to thank for this position. If they continue their recent poor performances then they won’t be here for long.
13) Sunderland, 44 points, +6 points from last season
The Black Cats have been far better than they were for most of last time round.
12) Swansea City, 47 points, +3 points from last season
Garry Monk’s team will need to continue their impressive start if they want to seriously improve their league position.
11) Newcastle United, 49 points, no difference
The Magpies have actually not gained anything compared to the last campaign, despite their now finished winning run.
10) Stoke City, 49 points, -1 points from last season
Mark Hughes’ team’s topsy turvy season is similar to what happened last time.
9) West Ham United, 51 points, +11 points from last season
The Hammers have made the biggest gain compared to the same fixtures last time round, if they keep it up they could make this position even better.
8) Manchester United, 57 points, -7 points from last season
The Red Devils have surprisingly done worse under Louis van Gaal than they did under former boss David Moyes in the same fixtures.
7) Southampton, 60 points, +4 from last season
This smallish gain in points shows how they Saints’ easier fixture list has helped their league position so far.
6) Everton, 63 points, -9 from last season
The Toffees have dropped the most points of any team so far, and need to pick it up soon if they don’t want to slip further down.
5) Tottenham Hotspur, 69 points, no difference
Spurs have been exactly as good as they were in their last campaign.
4) Arsenal, 72 points, -7 from last season
The Gunners may have started poorly, but if they are able to find something near last season’s form then they should be able to make fourth spot as usual .
3) Liverpool, 77 points, -7 from last season
The Reds are only so high because of the last campaign’s title challenging form, they should be worried as it looks unlikely this will happen again.
2) Manchester City, 87 points, +1 from last season
Despite all the pressure heaped on them, the Citizens are actually doing slightly better than they were in the same matches last time round.
1) Chelsea, 88 points, +6 from last season
Chelsea have amazingly already made up the points difference they had from the top last season.
