Balotelli is being investigated by the FA after posting an apparently anti-semitic and racist post to his Instagram account.

The controversial Italian quickly deleted the post, and later apologised for the blunder on social Twitter.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger knows full well that it is impossible to monitor players every second of the day, but claims it is important for individual players to be more responsible with their use of social media.

The Frenchman added that social media was a dangerous tool as players are not always aware of the consequences their actions could have, and stressed the importance of properly educating the players about it’s use.

“We can only warn players of the potential dangers, but you cannot control a player 24 hours a day”, he said.

“They have to be responsible enough and educated to control what they say.

“The danger of social media is that you can quickly not always imagine the consequences of what you say.”

Wenger has spoken out about the dangers of social media in football before, with a number of Arsenal players in the past seeing controversial posts draw unwanted attention from the press.
