Five Things We Learnt From Saturday, Including Arsenal And Manchester United’s Victories

Liverpool also grabbed themselves a win…

Saturday saw a return to winning ways for the bigger clubs, with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool all helping themselves to three points.

However, what did we learn from the results? Are we back to the same old teams winning, or was this just a blip?

5) Chelsea haven’t won the league yet

The Blues are still seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, but that could drop to four or six points depending on the result between Manchester City and Southampton.

Although they are still unbeaten, Sunderland chowed that there is a way to keep them out, and there will be more teams attempting to defend as stoutly as the Black Cats between now an the end of the season.

4) Robin van Persie isn’t done yet

The Dutchman has been under pressure from youngster James Wilson for his place in the team, but responded well against Hull City on Saturday.

United fans will be hoping his goal will be the start of some form that can propel his side up the table. With the Red Devils already in the top four, there isn’t that much further for them to go.

3) West Ham United aren’t going away

The Hammers won against fellow surprise package Newcastle United despite having a squad decimated by injuries. This has led to a return to the playing style of last season, but even so they managed to get the three points through Aaron Cresswell’s first Premier League goal.

This good performance in adversity show that Sam Allardyce’s team will be hanging around the big boys for a while yet.

2) Liverpool aren’t out of the woods yet

The Reds may have got themselves their first win in five games, but they weren’t all that convincing against mid-table Stoke City.

Brendan Rodgers’ side could have conceded on several occasions, and only won because of a late Glen Johnson goal. Not something you can rely on every week. There is still a long road ahead for last season’s runners up.

1) Arsenal aren’t either

The Gunners may have beaten struggling West Bromwich Albion, but they are still another team with a lot of work ahead of them. They suffered from similar problems to when they lost to Manchester United, with their players unable to take their chances at goal.

They will need to become far more clinical if they are going to finish in the top four at the end of this campaign.
