The Tottenham Hotspur striker has only scored two goals in 12 games so far this season, and youngster Harry Kane has moved ahead of him in the pecking order for the first XI.
These bizarre claims and counter-claims have formed the backdrop to his poor form.
Apparently earlier in the year the Tottenham player kicked his mum out of his house in Togo because she had placed a “Juju” curse on him. This was refuted by the mother who says that she did no such thing.
Now another family member has got involved, asserting the involvement of Muslim spiritual healers who apparently have influence with the 30-year-old.
“[Emmanuel] has been brainwashed by these Muslim alfas – spiritual men – who prophesise when he scores goals and why he is not playing well,” Kola said.
“They have convinced him his sister and mother put juju curses on him. My mother is very sad. Every day she is crying. I just talked to her on the phone and she was crying again.”
Who knows what will come out next in this saga?
