The Barcelona striker is apparently considering a move to the Blues…
According to South American TV channel DirecTV’s pundit Fabian Godoy, Lionel Messi could be on his way to Chelsea soon. This shows the five reasons he thinks a move to West London could be on the cards.

Sporting Challenge
This does make sense to a degree, as Messi has spent his entire professional career at FC Barcelona, and could feasibly want a new challenge in a new league. That doesn’t really fit with the impression of Messi’s character we get from the press, but who knows what the little genius is really thinking.
Protection From The Press
While a move to England might give Messi some protection from the Spanish and Argentinian press, he will only be moving out of the frying pan into the fire. Can you imagine the English tabloid storm that would surround Messi from the day he arrived at Stamford Bridge?
Education Of Thiago
Quite what’s wrong with the schools in Barcelona isn’t clear, but apparently Messi would prefer to educate his son in England.
Sporting Brand
This could be the most decisive reason of all. While the Barca star is making his sponsors plenty of money already, there is a level of conflict between Messi”s personal sponsors (Adidas) and Barcelona’s chief sponsor (Nike). The Blues are an Adidas team, and the alignment of Messi’s brand with their’s could be massively lucrative for all involved. Chelsea will also be sponsored by Turkish Airlines from next year – Messi is a client of theirs already.
Friendship With Cesc Fabregas
Messi is great friends with the West Londoners’ summer acquisition, and was apparently disappointed to see Barcelona let him go. Their girlfriends are also very close, and the Argentine would love to link up with his friend in London.
