Here are the top six clubs to have never won the biggest trophy in club football…
Lyon
The massive French club won Ligue 1 for six consecutive seasons between 2002 and 2008, but never transferred that form to Europe. They reached the semi-finals in 2010, but that is the closest they have got to the big one.
Manchester City
It may be a touch harsh as they have only really been in contention since their big money takeover in 2008.
However, their Abu Dhabi based owners have invested £1 billion since then with little return in Europe’s biggest competition. If there is no improvement then managers will continue to be changed at the Etihad Stadium.
Schalke 04
The Bundesliga side have the questionable honour of being the club with the biggest average attendance to have never won the Champions League. The German team have an average crowd of 61, 570, with only Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich having higher.
AS Roma
Disappointingly for Italy legend Francesco Totti his club have never won the Champions League.
While fellow Italian giants Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan have won the trophy twelve times, the fourth most successful club in the country have failed to do so.
Arsenal
The Gunners are yet to win the most illustrious prize. Despite qualifying for the knockout rounds for the last fifteen seasons under Arsene Wenger, the North London club are yet to win it.
They came close in 2006 when they lost in the final to Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid
The eight time La Liga champions are yet to win the European Cup. They have come unbelievably close on two occasions, losing in extra time in the 2014 and 1974 finals.
