Young Swiss centre-back Fabian Schar is the latest man to be linked to Arsenal to solve their defensive crisis, the Mirror reports.
Here’s ten things Gunners fans should know about the talented FC Basel man.
1) The 22-year-old is rated at £9.5m, but is out of contract at the end of the season.
2) He began his career at Swiss side FC Will 1900, and after impressing as a youngster, made the transfer to FC Basel in 2012.
3) He actually tried to become a banker before deciding to become a professional footballer.
4) He stands at 6. ft 1′ tall, and has already won nine caps for his national team.
5) In those limited international appearances, he has bagged four goals – very impressing for a centre-back.
6) He won the Man of the Match award earlier this Champions League campaign as Basel beat Liverpool 1-0 in Switzerland.
