Harry Redknapp will have to make do without his £10 million summer signing Sandro after club doctors confirmed a knee injury will keep him out until 2015, reports Talksport.
Sandro was forced off at the weekend in Queens Park Rangers’ 1-0 defeat to Newcastle in the 61st minute following a clash with Remy Cabella.
This isn’t the first knee injury the 25 year old has sustained with the Brazilian out injured for six months in January 2013 after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in a match for Tottenham Hotspur against QPR.
However, club doctors are insistent this isn’t a repeat and not connected to his recent ACL trouble.
QPR’s Head of Medical Services, Dr Peter Florida said: “Sandro took a bad knock to his right knee, and has suffered damage to his medial ligaments.
“It is totally unrelated to his previous ACL injury. Unfortunately, he will now be unavailable for selection until after Christmas”
It was only Sandro’s eighth appearance against for The Hoops after a number of injuries have restricted him to sporadic performances since his deadline day move to West London in September.
The news will surely come as a blow to manager Harry Redknapp whose side sit rock bottom of the Premier League having amassed just eight points from 12 games.
