Five Potential Replacements For Arsenal Manager
10) Dwight Gayle – Crystal Palace
Gayle was Crystal Palace’s top scorer across all competitions last season, and put in some great performances for Tony Pulis as the South London side successfully battled relegation. Neil Warnock clearly is not a fan however, and this season Gayle has been used as a late sub, if at all.
9) Arouna Kone – Everton
Arouna Kone was a hit for Roberto Martinez at Wigan, but has not played a single minute under the Spaniard at Everton this term due to a long and miserable injury.
8) Wilson Palacios – Stoke City
The man who was once hailed as saving Spurs from relegation is now unable to register a single minute for Mark Hughes’ new look Stoke side.
7) Scott Sinclair – Man City
Scott Sinclair saw what had happened to English talent like James Milner, Jack Rodwell, Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards at Man City and joined them anyway. Has played just 500 minutes in the three and a half league seasons since he joined the Citizens.
6) Vlad Chiriches – Tottenham Hotspur
At one point last season he was considered the only “hit” from the Spurs’ post-Bale summer. Now even disaster-zone Federico Fazio is ahead of him in the queue at centre-back.
5) Darren Bent – Aston Villa
The striker can’t even get minutes for an Aston Villa side who went 49 days without scoring.
4) Anderson – Man United
There are various theories surrounding Anderson’s failure to make it at Manchester United, but no valid ideas as to why they haven’t managed to shift him, or why they gave him a four year contract in December 2010.
3) Mohamed Salah – Chelsea
Salah has not looked up to it since joining Chelsea, who must be wishing they’d let him go to Liverpool in January. Even League 2 Shrewsbury shut him out of the game with ease.
2) Matija Nastasic – Man City
Nastasic made 30 appearances for Man City in 2012/2013, and was Roberto Mancini’s choice of partner for Vincent Kompany. The subsequent arrivals of Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala have pushed the Serb out of the equation.
1) Joel Campbell – Arsenal
Arsenal fans got very excited when Campbell put some big performances in for Costa Rica at this summer’s World Cup. The striker finally got a work permit this year, but the Immigration Service might as well not have bothered, given that the youngster has only played half an hour of football for the Gunners this term.
