The Gunners have been lacking a real defensive midfielder for years now,and Arsene Wenger apparently sees Arslan as a player who could fill that void.
The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, so would be available on a free in the summer or for a knock-down price in January.
Wenger believes the Turkish midfielder would fit perfectly into his style of play. Having been converted from a more attack-minded player into a defensive midfielder, he looks to posses both technical ability and a defensive mind-set.
His passing ability is thought to be exceptional, something Wenger demands of his players.
Arslan started out playing for Turkey on the international stage at youth level, but has more recently played for Germany in the Under-21s.
