England’s Impressive Potential Squad For Euro 2016 With Arsenal And Liverpool Stars Coming Of Age

It could be a good tournament for the Three Lions.

After beating Slovenia on Saturday England are in a great position to qualify for Euro 2016 in France and it is perhaps time to look forward to that tournament.

Here is what the squad could look like, with some familiar faces really hitting their peak.

Goalkeepers

Karl Darlow – Signed by Newcastle United over the summer, but currently back on-loan with Nottingham Forest we expect good things from this stopper.

Fraser Forster – Has been impressing at Southampton this season and could well challenge for the No.1 spot come 2016.

Joe Hart – The first English ‘keeper since David Seaman to truly establish himself and the Manchester City star is a strong asset to have between the sticks.

Full-backs

Nathaniel Clyne – With Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker some way short of form this is the perfect opportunity for this Saints ace to make the right-back slot his own.

Kieran Gibbs – With Leighton Baines approaching his 30th birthday and failing on the international stage so far we expect this Arsenal ace to be building on his success.

Luke Shaw – Has only recently moved to Manchester United and there is enough promise to suggest Shaw could be a top-class talent in two years time.

Centre-backs

Gary Cahill – Already the established figure at the back, by 2016 Cahill should have gotten so much more experience with Chelsea that he could be just as effective as John Terry.

Calum Chambers – Has already shown for the Gunners this term that his best position is in central defence and here’s hoping the 19-year-old can continue his development there.

Phil Jones – After being used as a utility man for some time it now seems as if Louis van Gaal prefers Jones as a centre-back and we agree it’s his best position – of he can steer clear of injuries.

John Stones – Like fellow youngster Chambers this Toffees starlet started out as a right-back, but is clearly better placed more centrally.

Central midfielders

Jordan Henderson – Tipped as Steven Gerrard’s natural successor, Henderson doesn’t have the passing ability to be that good, but the 24-year-old is a great leader.

James Milner – More established in the City first team now than he has ever been, Milner will be 30-years-old in two years time, but his work rate and versatility means he should certainly be included.

James Ward-Prowse – Just the latest of the seemingly endless conveyor belt of young talent at St Mary’s and expect big things from the midfielder.

Jack Wilshere – Has already developed his game to be able to play more deeply and Wilshere could be the ideal anchor in the Three Lions’ midfield.

Attacking midfielders

Ross Barkley – If the 20-year-old fulfills his potential that he could be the focal point of the attack by the time the competition comes around.

Adam Lallana – Solid and a useful substitute, Lallana will be hoping he has established himself at Liverpool even more in two years time.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Will be approaching his 23rd birthday by the time the tournament starts and Oxlade-Chamberlain could well be a stalwart in the starting XI by then.

Raheem Sterling – The 19-year-old is the nation’s most exciting prospect and if all goes to plan Sterling will be formidable in France.

Theo Walcott – Has always been a useful addition for club and country and his pace and trickery adds another dimension to the squad.

Forwards

Jay Rodriguez – Time will tell how this attacker recovers from a cruciate ligament injury, but if Rodriguez can rediscover his form of 2013/14 he should definitely be included.

Wayne Rooney – The skipper will be coming up to his 31st birthday, but his influence cannot be underestimated and by then we expect Rooney to be operating in a deeper role.

Daniel Sturridge – Another ravaged by injury, but is the country’s most gifted goalscorer by far and hopefully Sturridge will be in good form.

Danny Welbeck – A move to the Emirates Stadium has really benefited this forward and his record for England is also very impressive
