Having impressed with Torino the 27-year-old made the switch to the Vicente Calderon Stadium over the summer, but since then Cerci has struggled to make an impact with the Spanish champions.

Atleti head coach Diego Simeone paid £13m for the Italy international, but is already willing to let the forward leave the club as he has failed to settle in Spain and has been deemed surplus to requirements.

Cerci is yet to even start a match for Atletico and interest from the Premier League is growing as it becomes more and more likely that the Italian will leave La Liga.

Both the Gunners and United have been interested in the attacking ace back when he was still playing in Serie A and may look to make a move for the player.

Cerci generally operates behind the striker in the No.10 role, but can also play on the right flank and in a slightly deeper position and has a great reputation back in Italy.

To date the former Torino man has 14 caps for the national team.
