5) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
Linked strongly with a host of top clubs including Chelsea and Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus would make a superb signing for Arsenal and could be available on the cheap next summer with a £20m buy-out clause in his contract.
4) Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)
With Mesut Ozil reportedly wanted by Bayern Munich, Arsenal could try their luck with a swap deal involving Swiss playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri, who has been unfortunate not to get more playing time since moving to the Allianz Arena.
3) Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich)
Another Bayern star worth pursuing, Mario Gotze is a genuinely world class talent who could soon be available after recently admitting he’d like to play abroad, though Chelsea and Manchester United could also be interested.
2) Juan Mata (Manchester United)
Possibly heading for a £20m exit from United this January, long-term Arsenal target Juan Mata could make an ideal Ozil replacement if he regains his top form at the Emirates Stadium.
1) Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint-Germain)
Not quite the same type of player as Ozil, but perhaps one more necessary to the needs of this Arsenal team, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye could be available this January and would fit in well in Arsene Wenger’s side.
