Arsenal have sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings as the Gunners plot a bid for the 21-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

Mings has been one of Ipswich’s key men this season, starting 15 league games, having become the first choice left-back at Portman Road following Aaron Cresswell’s summer move to West Ham United.

His impressive performances in the Championship have certainly not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle United all reportedly taking an interest.

Arsenal have already had scout Pat Holland watch Mings, but the Gunners now want Rowley to take a look, before they make an offer for the player, who is valued at around £10m.

Mings began his career with Southampton, where he played youth football with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

However, he was released by the Saints and ended up at non-League outfit Yate Town.

A sideways move to Chippenham Town was then followed by a £10,000 transfer to Ipswich in 2012.

Mings was named Championship Player of the Month in September.

He is under contract at Ipswich until June 2007, having only recently penned a new deal with the Suffolk club.
