Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)
Estimated Cost £10m
Another player into the final year of his current contract is German international Khedira and he may be the best man to give Arsenal some balance in their midfield.
Wenger has been using veteran skipper Mikel Arteta in a holding role which arguably doesn’t suit him and failing that has turned to Mathieu Flamini to provide an out and out defensive midfield option, with the Frenchman some way past his best.
Khedira offers the qualities of both a holding and a defensive midfielder and we imagine a £10m bid would be accepted by Real Madrid, not least as Carlo Ancelotti appears to have little interest in using the 27 year old in his first team set-up.
The former Stuttgart man missed most of last term through injury but returned to help Real Madrid cling the Champions League title and then played a prominent role at the World Cup finals helping Joachim Low’s side to a triumph in Brazil.
