The Spanish giants have reportedly agreed terms on a pre-contract deal for the Borussia Dortmund forward, who has also attracted strong interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich in recent times.
The 25-year-old has long been regarded as one of the finest attacking midfielders in the world with his fine displays in the Bundesliga, and his future may now be resolved as he seems to have made the decision to join Real ahead of many other interested parties.
Although Carlo Ancelotti already has a great many options in that part of the pitch, Real are known for competing for the biggest names on the market, and have been keen to tie up a bargain deal for Reus, who has a release clause in his contract which comes into effect in the summer.
A move to the Premier League had looked on the cards, but it now looks increasingly like the Bernabeu will be his next destination, as he becomes the latest ‘Galactico’ signing by Los Blancos.
