The England skipper missed the last three games through suspension after receiving a red card against West Ham United last month and then a foot injury picked up in training made him a doubt for the game against City.
However, those worries have been allayed and the 29-year-old will be welcomed back to the fold as Louis van Gaal could have been facing a striker shortage had he been unfit to play.
