10) Alvaro Negredo (Valencia)
Despite finishing on a bit of a low after a great start, Alvaro Negredo’s 23 goals for Manchester City last season mean he was largely a success at the Etihad Stadium. This season, however, he has been farmed out on loan to Valencia, for whom he has barely made an impact so far.
9) Romelu Lukaku (Everton)
A terrific signing on loan last season, Romelu Lukaku was one of the best strikers in the Premier League last season, though he has failed to replicate this scoring run since joining Everton on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
8) Per Mertesacker (Arsenal)
One of the big reasons for Arsenal’s fine start to last season with some solid performances in defence, Per Mertesacker has not looked quite as good so far this term, with the Gunners’ performances at the back suffering as a result.
7) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)
With 24 goals last season, Gonzalo Higuain looked an excellent signing for Napoli when he joined from Real Madrid. However, this year he has endured a long goalless streak before recently bringing up his average with a hat-trick against Verona. Still, more is needed from the under-achieving Argentine.
6) Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
One of La Liga’s finest attacking midfielders for Real Sociedad last season, French winger Antoine Griezmann has not hit the ground running with new club Atletico Madrid since his £24m move in the summer.
5) Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)
A solid defender for Southampton, Dejan Lovren’s fine form attracted plenty of interest this summer, prompting Liverpool to fork out £20m for him. So far, however, the Croatian international has looked well out of his depth at Anfield.
4) Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
With just one Premier League goal from open play so far this season, there’s no doubt that the potentially world class Eden Hazard has been well below-par for Chelsea so far, having lit up the English top flight last term.
3) Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United)
One of the most exciting young players when he burst onto the scene for Manchester United last season, Adnan Januzaj has been highly disappointing so far this season after failing to break into Louis van Gaal’s first-team plans.
2) Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)
One of the most improved players in world football last season, Aaron Ramsey was sensational for Arsenal as he almost single-handedly lifted the Gunners to the top of the table by Christmas. This year, however, the Welshman has made a minimal impact and looks to be playing within himself.
1) Yaya Toure (Manchester City)
An unstoppable force in midfield for Manchester City last season, Yaya Toure has been highly disappointing so far this season and looks unhappy to be in a City shirt. The Ivory Coast international may now leave the club in January after one of the most rapid dips in form in living memory.
