The Gunners’ resident clown, Podolski is always one for jokes and shenanigans. It therefore seems fitting that he should play a part in the comedy adaptation of the best-selling novel by author Moritz Netenjakob.
The German international has already filmed his shots in the film, a sequence which will take place in Koln’s stadium RheinEnergieStadion.
The film is set to be released late next year, and will see Podolski playing himself.
“The film will be shot in my hometown Cologne, where I grew up and where my career started,” he said.
“My scene takes place in the stadium and it’s really funny, I think.
“I am curious to see the result when I go to the premiere and see myself on the screen.”
The Arsenal star has been something of a fringe player this season following a number of lacklustre performances since joining the club.
He did however score a vital last minute goal against Anderlecht in the Champions League last week, a goal which snatched a win from the jaws of defeat for Arsenal and gave them a much needed three point boost.
