Coach Carlo Ancelotti is desperate to bring in a new midfielder in the new year as Sami Khedira will almost certainly leave the club.
The Italian tactician is a known admirer of Ramires, having worked with him during his own time at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues aren’t looking to sell the player.
Ancelotti is also a fan of Paris Saint-Germain youngster Marco Verratti but the French side are only willing to let the 21-year-old depart if they manage to sign Yaya Toure from Manchester City.
The new FFP rules have made a move for Toure difficult, meaning Ancelotti has had to turn his attentions elsewhere after being impressed by Firmino’s recent displays.
Firmino has been called up to the Brazilian national team due to his impressive form in the Bundesliga and is viewed as a possible solution by Ancelotti.
He has also been linked with a switch to both Liverpool and Arsenal, but Ancelotti will move quickly to pull the rug from under their feet.
