Corey Gameiro (Sydney FC)

The youngster lit the fuse before the Sydney derby, calling the Wanderers his side’s “little brothers” but backed up his words on the pitch.

Gameiro’s link-up play with Alex Brosque was excellent and he dragged his side back into contention with Sydney’s opening goal.

He later laid on the ball for Brosque’s winner – an all round strong performance by the striker.

Josh Risdon (Perth Glory)

The Perth full-back did his job perfectly in the Glory’s 3-2 win over reigning champions Brisbane Roar.

Risdon shut down the excellent Thomas Broich for a majority of the game and also aided his side in attack after he set up Andy Keogh for one of his goals.

Michael McGlinchey (Wellington Phoenix)

The Kiwi international got revenge on his former club and was absolutely pivotal for a Phoenix side that needed to bounce back after a disappointing loss at home last week.

He scored a goal and played a part in the second as the Phoenix beat the Mariners 2-1.

Henrique (Brisbane Roar)

Scored a blinding long range goal to give the Roar a 2-1 lead over Perth and also set up Brisbane’s first, with Mensur Kurtisi finishing off a lovely cross from the Brazilian.

A strong performance, but he’ll feel disappointed as the Roar went down 3-2 to the Glory.

Andy Keogh (Perth Glory)

What a start to the season for the Irishman.

He was denied a hat-trick after his second strike was officially given as an own goal to young Roar defender James Donachie, but nonetheless it was another excellent performance by the former Wolves and Millwall man.

After also scoring against the Phoenix last week, Keogh is now firming as the bookies’ favourite to win the golden boot award.
