The BBC report on Gazidis’s thoughts on life after Wenger as the Frenchman nears his 65th birthday having spent in excess of 18 years in charge of the north London club.
“The biggest challenge we’re going to face as a club is that transition from Arsene to the next manager,” said Gazidis.
“We have a giant who’s managing us. Arsene has put the club in a great, great position.”
Wenger signed a new three year contract following Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph over Hull City in May and Gazidis has been quick to point out the healthy financial position the Emirates Stadium side finds itself in.
“The last five years of unlocking our international and our commercial revenues is so important for the club,” Gazidis added.
“It allows us to go out and, if the manager believes in someone like Mesut Ozil, he can buy him. It’s the same with Alexis Sanchez.”
“Unlike the situation two or three years ago when we were really financially challenged and losing our top players, we are signing our top players to long-term contracts – guys like Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.”
Arsenal have started the season in shaky fashion, picking up ten points from their opening seven Premier League fixtures and sit in eighth place in the table, some nine points off leaders Chelsea.
