The Sun Football ran a Twitter poll in which fans voted for the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Here’s how the top five ended up:

5) Asmir Begovic – Stoke City

The Stoke man surprisingly gets in ahead of Chelsea backup Petr Cech, and Manchester City’s England no.1 Joe Hart, despite not finding his best form recently.

4) Wojciech Szczesny – Arsenal Szczesny keeps Colombian no.1 David Ospina out of the Arsenal side, and doesn’t look like losing his spot anytime soon. At just 24-years-old, he has the potential to develop into one of the very best in the business.

  3) Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea The brilliant Belgian has started this season with the Blues as he left the last with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid: in excellent fashion. As a result, Petr Cech can’t get in the side.

2) Hugo Lloris – Tottenham The world-class keeper captains France, and is probably Tottenham’s most prized asset, although he’s missed out on top spot in this fan vote.

1) Dave de Gea – Manchester United

We feel Manchester United supporters may have hijacked this one! Although de Gea is probably not at the level of Lloris or Courtois yet, he’s improving every week – and was recently selected ahead of Iker Casillas in the Spain side.
