Despite concerns that United urgently need to tighten up at the back after an inconsistent start to the season, Louis van Gaal wants to build on summer signings of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao by bringing in further options upfront to enhance his already immensely talented squad.
With some truly astonishing deals lined up, these are the three main targets for the Dutchman as we head towards January…
1) Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
In a deal expected to cost a world-record £90m, Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has recently come onto the club’s radar as an alternative to Cristiano Ronaldo.
2) Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)
A further £40m could be spent on the signing of superb AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, who was a target during the summer and remains a priority in the middle of the park for van Gaal.
3) Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)
In a reported £70m double swoop, another £30m could also go on bringing in Colombian sensation Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina, who may be brought in as an attack-minded right wing-back.
