Manchester United youngster Paddy McNair has picked up a hamstring injury that will keep him out of action for three weeks.
He joins Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans on the sidelines, leaving the Red Devils with very few centre-back options at Louis van Gaal’s disposal.
United do now have a 14 day break before their next fixture against West Brom, but McNair is almost certain to be fit enough to play any part after he put in consecutive strong performances during victories over West Ham and Everton.
The Northern Irishman has earned stiff praise as a result, but with Tyler Blackett likely to come back into the side following the injury, McNair will do well to get himself back into the side.
