England Squad: Arsenal Star Called Up To Replaced Injured Everton Man John Stones

Calum Chambers now available for games against San Marino and Estonia.

Arsenal right back Calum Chambers has been drafted into the England squad for the upcoming games against San Marino and Estonia, report the Daily Star, after Everton defender John Stones was ruled out of the squad with an injury sustained during the dying seconds of the Toffees’ 2-1 Premier League defeat to Manchester United today.

Chambers played the 90 minutes for Arsenal as they were swatted aside 2-0 by Chelse at Stamford Bridge, with Eden Hazard causing him all sorts of problems, but England manager Roy Hodgson has once again put his faith in youth by recalling Chambers to the senior squad from the Under 21 side, where he was due to feature in Gareth Southate’s team’s crucial qualifying play-off against Croatia.

Chambers could well now start for England against minnows San Marino and Estonia, however, with uncapped Southampton star Nathaniel Clyne his competition for a berth at right back in the upcoming qualifying matches.

The former Southampton teenager was in Hodgson’s last England squad for the September fixtures against Norway and Switzerland, making his international debut at Wembley, but was one of a few players who Hodgson decided would be better served by competing in a huge Under 21 play-off as opposed to probably sitting on the bench for the seniors.
