There are still plenty of negotiations outstanding, however, with these six superstars yet to come to agreement over extended stays:

Robin van Persie (Manchester United)

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is reportedly keen to extend his contract at Old Trafford, which ticking towards expiry during the next couple of years. The only stumbling block seems to be manager Louis van Gaal, who must decided whether he sees van Persie, formally his captain with the Netherlands, as a part of the club’s long term future. A prolific goalscorer when fit, however, United would be well advised to sort out his future.

Joe Hart (Manchester City)

The contract situation of England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is intriguing – with reports suggesting that it is the club, rather than the player, who is holding up progress when it comes to an extended deal at the Etihad Stadium. One of the finest goalkeepers in the world currently, despite the occasional lapse in form, it would be foolish for City to allow Hart to slip through their fingers.

Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

He may have been ruled out through injury since January, but neither Arsene Wenger nor the Arsenal supporters are likely to have forgotten the explosive influence that Theo Walcott can have on the team when is fit and firing. Despite the fact that he has not seen how well Walcott is able to return from being sidelined or, indeed, how he can perform alongside the likes of new signings Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, the club are set to offer Walcot a bumper new deal.

Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

As the Premier League vultures of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United begin to circle around Sami Khedira, whose contract expires at the end of the season, Real Madrid are reportedly resigned to losing the World Cup winner – unless he agrees to sign a new deal at the Bernabeu. One of the finest box-to-box players around, Carlo Ancelotti is clearly keen to keep Khedira at the club.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

With Paris Saint Germain seemingly linked to a swoop for the creative Belgian superstar every single transfer window, Chelsea look set to secure a new long-term deal with Eden Hazard to end speculation about a move to the Parc des Princes once and for all. One of their most important players, losing Hazard isn’t something that would go down well with the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

Liverpool are particularly keen to tie down wonderkid winger Raheem Sterling to a new deal at Anfield, but the England international is seemingly in no rush to cave into the club’s offer of improved terms on his £30k per week deal. If Sterling’s rate of improvement from the last 12 months continues, he is likely to have his pick of any major club across Europe.
