Six in-demand Serie A players for January.
Although it may not be the dominant force of European football like it was in the past, Italy’s Serie A is still home to some of Europe’s best talent, with a number of their biggest names continuing to impress and be linked with a number of other top clubs around the continent, including the Premier League’s giants as they ponder their next purchases for when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Below are six of the biggest names in Italy currently being linked with moves to England ahead of January, with Liverpool and Manchester United in particular expected to be busy strengthening their squads at the next opportunity…
6) Marek Hamsik (Napoli)
Recently linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik could be one of a number of big names to leave the Stadio San Paolo this January, with manager Rafael Benitez’s future also under some doubt after a disappointing start to the season. The Slovakian midfielder has been a top performer in the Italian top flight for many years now, and could make an excellent addition to most Premier League sides this season.

5) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)
Another big name possibly on his way out of Napoli, Gonzalo Higuain is attracting strong interest from Liverpool this January as the Reds continue to look for a top class centre-forward to replace Luis Suarez. Mario Balotelli was another import from Italy this summer as he joined from AC Milan, but he hasn’t managed to get going at Anfield so far, leading to interest in the Argentine sharp-shooter.
4) Angelo Ogbonna (Juventus)
A solid centre-back who has not managed to get as much playing time as expected at Juventus, Angelo Ogbonna is now said to be a target for Manchester United as they ponder new signings to improve their current options at the back. Louis van Gaal’s side have leaked goals so far this season and there’s no doubt a player of Ogbonna’s quality could improve their fortunes in that department.
3) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)
Also in United’s sights is another Juventus player, Arturo Vidal. The Chilean international was linked with the Red Devils on a number of occasions throughout the summer transfer window, and could now move along with Ogbonna in a rumoured £52m double swoop by United on the Italian champions.
2) Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)
One of the finest wingers in Serie A at the moment, Juan Cuadrado has long been linked with an exit from current club Fiorentina to a bigger name in Europe. The Colombian international looked like leaving in the summer before eventually staying put, though he remains a top target for Manchester United and Chelsea in January.
1) Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)
A player who continues to look like a top priority target for Manchester United despite his recent lengthy spell out with injury, AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman looks likely to be on his way to Old Trafford this January according to recent reports. The Dutch international could certainly add something to this side’s midfield, with Louis van Gaal still in need of improvements in what has long been a problem position for the club.
