The Gunners were linked several times with the German World Cup winner for much of this summer’s transfer window, though they missed out on his signature at the time, but Arsene Wenger is still interested in snapping him up.
The 27-year-old looks highly likely to be leaving the Bernabeu after refusing to sign a new contract with the Spanish giants, leaving him free to talk to other clubs from January as he enters the final months of his current deal.
Arsenal could do with new additions in midfield after an unconvincing start to the season from the likes of Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere, with Khedira surely set to be a major upgrade on these under-performing stars.
Chelsea still look like being Arsenal’s main rivals in the race for Khedira’s signature, with former Madrid boss Jose Mourinho keen to link up with his old player, who has established himself as one of the best in the world in the defensive midfield role in recent times.
