10. Mame Biram Diouf, Stoke City

Signed from Hannover this summer the former Manchester United man has struck twice for the Potteries, including a superb solo effort in a shock 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

9. Eric Dier, Tottenham Hotspur

An England Under-21 international this defender spent his career in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon before Spurs paid £4m for his services and he looks to be the answer to their right-back issues.

8. Dusan Tadic, Southampton

There was some serious rebuilding to be done at St Mary’s this summer after losing five key players and their manager, but Mauricio Pochettino’s successor Ronald Koeman has raided the Eredivisie for gems like this winger.

7. Calum Chambers, Arsenal

One of those that left the Saints was 19-year-old Chambers, who has already operated at right-back and in central defence for the Gunners and looks to have a great future in the game ahead of him.

6. Graziano Pelle, Southampton

Another new signing for Koeman now and another who was acquired from the Dutch top tier, with Pelle signing from Feyenoord and having already netted three league goals.

5. Gylfi Sigurdsson, Swansea City

After a frustrating time at Tottenham this attacking midfielder returned to the club where he made his name in the English top tier and has been heavily involved in the Swans’ impressive start.

4. Leanardo Ulloa, Leicester City

Some questioned whether it was the right move by the Foxes to pay a club record £8m for a striker with no top flight experience in England, but Ulloa has proven any of those doubters wrong with his performances.

3. Angel di Maria, Manchester United

It was something of a surprise when the Red Devils landed this midfielder from Real Madrid in a British record £59.7m deal, but di Maria has proven he could well be worth the outlay with his displays so far.

2. Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea

After three years away from English football with boyhood club FC Barcelona the former Arsenal captain has returned and looks to have never been away as he has slotted in seamlessly at Stamford Bridge.

1. Diego Costa, Chelsea

Another new Blues signing now as Jose Mourinho addressed the issues in his squad to great effect and after just four matches this striker has seven league goals and a Player of the Month award to his name.
