Five Potential January Signings That Liverpool Have Their Eye On

Five players Livepool are eyeing up for the January transfer window.

The January transfer window may now have been slammed shut for more than a fortnight, but it never quite sleeps, as the continuing links being made between Premier League clubs and players for the January market are proof of.

Despite an extremely busy summer at Anfield that saw them spend in excess of £100 million, Liverpool’s performances so far attest to the fact that they need to strengthen in January, with these stars already being linked:

Isco (Real Madrid)

The Real Madrid playmaker and Spanish international has struggled for first team action at the Bernabeu since arriving from Malaga in the summer of 2013, meaning that he could potentially be available in the January transfer window. Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for the services of a player who remains one of the most exciting young talents in La Liga, but could face stiff competition from Arsenal and even Manchester City, who tried to sign him when he moved to Real.

Dele Alli (Milton Keynes Dons)

Liverpool are known to be long-term admirers of teenage MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, who has recently signed a new deal at Stadium:MK but is likely to be allowed to move on once the League One club and their manager, Karl Robinson, feel that the right move has opened up for their prodigious youngster. The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for Alli, but could face competition for the England youth international from as far afield as Bayern Munich.

Julian Brandt (Bayer Leverkusen)

Liverpool have made a point of trying to snap up the best young talent from across the continent since Brendan Rodgers arrived as manager from Swansea City, with teenager Bayer Leverkusen forward Julian Brandt set to be their next target, although Chelsea could provide stern competition in the race for the German.

Pedro (Barcelona)

Much like Isco, another young La Liga star whose career has stalled somewhat at one of the big two is Barcelona winger Pedro, whose fine goalscoring record has not been enough to make him an automatic pick in Luis Enrique’s side. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with January moves for a player who possesses both searing pace and the ability to finish neatly.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (FC Schalke 04)

Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was linked with a Premier League move this summer after a couple of years with German Bundesliga outfit FC Schalke 04, with their shocking start to the season now making a January move even more likely, despite Huntelaar’s fine goal against Chelsea nicking a Champions League point. Liverpool have been mentioned as a potential destination for the former Real Madrid man.
