Liverpool V Ludogorets: Predicted XI, With Raheem Sterling In & Lazar Markovic Out

Wonderkid surely set for recall following Premier League defeat to Aston Villa…

Here’s how we reckon the Reds will Start against Ludogorets in the Champions League fixture at Anfield this Tuesday evening…

Following the hapless defeat to Aston Villa, Brendan Rodgers could revert to his tried and tested midfield diamond formation.

GK) Simon Mignolet

The Belgian stopper, despite a poor start to the Premier League season, will begin in goal barring a late injury.

DR) Javier Manquillo

With Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan both still crocked, Brendan Rodgers has little chance but to start with Manquillo on the right of the back four once again.

DL) Jose Enrique

Alberto Moreno again was defensively poor in the Premier League, and we think fellow Spaniard Jose Enrique, now fit again, will be given a chance from the offset.

DC) Dejan Lovren

His error led to Villa’s goal on Saturday, and he’ll need to massively up his level. Luckily for him, he’s virtually certain to start as Martin Skrtel is still crocked.

DC) Mamadou Sakho

Sakho’s power is uncompromising, but he needs to distribute the ball far more quickly when in possession at the back. He’ll get the nod against Ludogorets, however.

DMC) Steven Gerrard

From the base of midfield, Gerrard can control tempo, and zip passes into Sterling and Balotelli’s feet.

MC) Jordan Henderson

Henderson struggled perhaps the most in the formation against Villa, and will enjoy the chance to use his energy and combative style against Ludogorets in his preferred formation.

MC) Coutinho

With Joe Allen injured, Coutinho will likely continue in a more central midfield role, probably on the left of the diamond. Adam Lallana did nothing during his debut to justify another starting spot.

AMC) Raheem Sterling

Rested for the Premier League defeat, Sterling will surely be recalled for Liverpool’s first Champions League fixture in five years.

FC) Mario Balotelli

The Italian maverick has yet to score for the Reds, but with Daniel Sturridge out, he’ll be expected to start finding the back of the net sooner rather than later.

FC) Rickie Lambert

If Rodgers does choose two up top, it gives Lambert a chance to make his first chance start for the Reds. He’ll no doubt be completely fired up to do so in a Champions League fixture at Anfield, being a boyhood fan.
