Lacazette top scored for Lyon last season, impressing with his pace and movement in attack despite a reasonably frustrating season that saw Remi Garde’s side again fail to fight their way back into the Chamoions League, a competition in which they were almost a permanent fixture just a few years ago.
Belt tightening from the former Ligue 1 champions has seen a number of key players leave the club, including powerful striker Bafetimbi Gomis to Swansea City this summer, but it appears that the club have managed to pull out all the stops to persuade their star man to stay at Lyon.
Lacazette, whose contract was due to expire in the coming months, has now extended his stay with Lyon until 2018 – although if he continues his prolific goalscoring form in Ligue 1 then it is unlikely that the European giants will be dissuaded from coming calling for his services again in the near future.
Blessed with rapid pace and an eye for goal that has developed since he made his Ligue 1 debut, Lacazette is now a key part of France manager Didier Deschamps’ thinking and one of the league’s finest players.
