Best transfer window bargains this summer.
10) Samuel Eto’o (Everton)
A free transfer after his release from Chelsea at the end of last season, Samuel Eto’o should prove an astute signing by Everton to add depth to their options upfront. The veteran Cameroon forward may be past his peak, but still has the ability that made him one of the best strikers of his generation whilst at European giants such as Barcelona and Inter Milan.

9) Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich)
Moving for a reported £8m, Xabi Alonso should prove a big loss for Real Madrid and a smart signing by Bayern Munich as they looked to bring in cover in the middle of the park after losing Toni Kroos after his move to the Bernabeu, as well as a long-term injury to Javi Martinez.
8) Bacary Sagna (Manchester City)
Another player snapped up for free, Manchester City have landed themselves with an excellent new right-back in Bacary Sagna, who was out of contract after coming to the end of his deal with Arsenal. Widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, the experienced Frenchman should provide the City squad with excellent depth at the back, as well as quality going forward.
7) Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur)
At just £4m, Tottenham Hotspur’s new defender Eric Dier should see his market value rise hugely in the next few years if his early performances for the club in the Premier League are anything to go by. The England youth international started his development at Sporting Lisbon and has adapted quickly to the pace of the English game, looking a superb talent and key player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side already.
6) Loic Remy (Chelsea)
Chelsea’s latest signing upfront after also sealing highly promising deals for Diego Costa and Didier Drogba, Loic Remy looks a superb bargain after moving from Queens Park Rangers for just £10.5m, his release clause at Loftus Road. The French international has been a big hit since moving to the Premier League, looking particularly impressive on loan with Newcastle United last season.
5) Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)
The most expensive player on this list, but still a bargain even at £30m considering his immense talent, Cesc Fabregas is a superb addition to the Premier League after moving back to English football following a disappointing three years with his hometown club Barcelona. Arsenal will surely live to regret not taking up the option to sign him back, with the Spanish playmaker already looking like becoming a highly influential member of this star-studded Chelsea team.
4) Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona)
After becoming one of the best midfielders in La Liga last season with his old club Sevilla, £16.1m is certainly not a lot for Barcelona to pay as they found their Cesc Fabregas replacement for nearly half the price they sold the Chelsea star for. The Croatian international is a supremely talented and intelligent playmaker from a deep-lying role, and should fit in well with the style of play at the Nou Camp as he is given the difficult task of replacing club legend Xavi as he nears the end of his glorious career.
3) Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)
A World Cup winner with Germany, and treble winner with Bayern Munich just over a year ago, Toni Kroos certainly does not look too expensive at £20m, the fee Real Madrid paid for him this summer. The Spanish giants have something of a reputation for over-spending sometimes, but they have certainly landed themselves a bargain here with this superbly gifted midfield playmaker, who will surely enjoy the chance to win plenty more silverware after his move to the Bernabeu.
2) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
One of the best free transfers of the century, Robert Lewandowski should be a hit if he maintains the fine form he showed at his previous club Borussia Dortmund for his new club Bayern Munich. The Polish international was wanted by a whole host of top clubs around Europe but made the controversial move to Dortmund’s rivals after his contract run out at the end of last season.
1) Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)
Although something of a gamble given his noted behavioural and disciplinary problems, there is no denying that on talent alone, Mario Balotelli is a real bargain signing for Liverpool this summer after joining from AC Milan for just £16m. The Italian international can be one of the best players in the world if he cuts the nonsense out of his game and shows some consistency, and for now he looks money very well spent after Liverpool brought in a whopping £75m from the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
