Arsenal Leading Chase to Sign Versatile Italian Forward

Emirates Stadium side look to strengthen attack after Olivier Giroud injury.

Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase to sign Torino forward Alessio Cerci according to the Metro.

Arsene Wenger is urgently in need of attacking reinforcements following an ankle injury suffered by Olivier Giroud and a likely departure of German international Lukas Podolski and 27 year old Serie A star Cerci may be a good option to consider.

The Italian international is being pursued by AC Milan and AS Roma but Arsenal are in pole position to bring in Cerci, with Torino resigned to losing their prized asset this summer.

The former Fiorentina man had a stand-out campaign last term, netting 13 goals in Serie A action and finishing the campaign as the joint leading assist maker in the Italian top tier.

Cerci earned a strong run in the national team set-up due to his consistent displays but may feel that the time is right for a new challenge and the chance to play in the Champions League could act as further motivation for a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger will be keen to utilize the versatile attacker to help offer options both as an orthodox striker as well as in a wide-attacking role.
