Chelsea striker Fernando Torres could be reunited with his former Blues team-mate Ashley Cole as he becomes a top target for AS Roma, according to the Sun.
The Italian giants have been in the market for a new signing upfront this summer, and recent speculation suggested that Torres could move to the Stadio Olimpico as part of a deal for Chelsea to sign promising Italian forward Mattia Destro.
However, that talk has cooled down now and it may just be that the Blues will look to offload the unsettled Torres before the end of the summer after his disappointing time since moving to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool in a £50m deal.
Contract talks are supposedly holding up the move somewhat, with the Spanish international demanding that Chelsea pay up the remainder of his £8.5m-a-year contract in full before he leaves.
It remains to be seen if there is enough time for this particular transfer saga to resolve itself with only a few days remaining of the summer transfer window, but other reports suggest Torres, 30, may also find himself with offers from the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan.
