AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on four Premier League-based players in their bid to replace the Liverpool-bound Mario Balotelli this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Other big names including Porto striker Jackson Martinez and Torino forward Alessio Cerci are also thought to be in Milan’s sights as they face the difficult task of signing a replacement for the hugely talented Balotelli.

The Italian international is expected to complete a £16m move to Anfield in the coming days, just a year and a half after joining the San Siro outfit from Manchester City, and it now looks as though the club will look to the Premier League again to find some potential additions upfront.

The four players on Milan’s list are as follows:

4) Fernando Torres (Chelsea)

One name on Milan’s list is unsettled Chelsea striker Fernando Torres. The Spanish international has struggled badly in his time at Stamford Bridge and has been linked several times with a move away from the club. Milan now look to be his biggest suitors as they seek a top quality signing upfront, and Torres could prove a smart purchase if he can regain the form that saw him become regarded as one of the best strikers in the world during his time with Liverpool.

3) Roberto Soldado (Tottenham Hotspur)

Another Premier League-based player being looked at by Milan is Tottenham Hotspur’s Spanish flop Roberto Soldado. The 29-year-old flopped badly since joining Spurs from Valencia last summer, though his fine scoring record during his time in La Liga looks to have persuaded Milan that he may be worth taking a gamble on as they look for new attacking players to fill the void left by Balotelli.

2) Javier Hernandez (Manchester United)

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is another name on Milan’s list as they look for a big-name signing upfront, and there have been suggestions that the Mexican international could leave Old Trafford this summer after failing to establish himself as first choice at the club. A great predatory player, Hernandez could be a smart signing if he can show the kind of form in front of goal that he showed in his first season at United, and he may well benefit from more first-team football.

1) Samuel Eto’o (Unattached)

With Balotelli heading to Liverpool, it could be that Milan will look to hijack the Reds’ move for former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o. The Cameroon veteran left Stamford Bridge at the end of his contract this summer and is now available on a free. Despite previously playing for Milan’s local rivals Inter, the 33-year-old would be welcomed warmly at the San Siro again after a great playing career in Europe, even if he is somewhat past his best now.
