Following Tuesday night’s friendly games involving Chelsea and Manchester United, all 20 Premier League clubs have completed their preseason fixtures.
All are now firmly focused on the greatest domestic competition in the world, which returns this weekend.
Because looking at the blank league table – ordered alphabetically – is driving us mad, we have decided to rank England’s top 20 clubs based on their results in preseason.
We know that preseason form often counts for very little. And yes, teams have played differing numbers of games and faced opposition of varying quality.
Nevertheless, the 2014-15 preseason Premier League table makes for very interesting reading.
Rules:
All first-team games that have taken place since July 1 count. This includes the Community Shield for Arsenal and Manchester City, and the Europa League for Hull City.
90-minute results only: matches that went to extra time or penalties have been deemed draws.
