Although most of the big clubs in European football are famed for spending huge amounts of money on players, since 2004 FC Porto have been making plenty on outgoing transfers.
The £32m sale of Eliaquim Mangala to Manchester City is just the latest in a host of expensive departures from the Estadio do Dragao over the past decade and here are the 10 biggest deals.
10. Ricardo Carvalho to Chelsea, 2004 – £19.85m
Having helped Porto to Champions League success in 2004 under manager Jose Mourinho, the coach then bought the centre-back with him when he took charge at Stamford Bridge.
9. Ricardo Quaresma to Inter Milan, 2008 – £20m
Never quite lived up to the expectations of him after leaving the Primeira Liga and after five-and-a-half years away the winger is now back where he started.
8. Anderson to Manchester United, 2007 – £20m
Another flop here as the Red Devils landed this Brazil international believing he was the next big thing, but seven years on and the midfielder cannot break into the first team.
7. Lisandro Lopez to Olympique Lyon, 2009 – £20.4m
Spent four fairly impressive years with Lyon before leaving for Qatar in 2013 and has also never really lived up to the hype.
6. Joao Moutinho to AS Monaco, 2013 – £21m
Headed to the newly rich Principality club last summer as part of a double deal and played a big part in helping them to return to the Champions League with a second-placed finish in Ligue 1.
5. Pepe to Real Madrid, 2007 – £23.9m
Has enjoyed a great period of success with Madrid and although some question the Portugal international’s temperament, he remains a firm fixture at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
4. Eliaquim Mangala to Manchester City, 2014 – £32m
The newest deal that has been completed on this list with Mangala finally completing his long expected move to the Etihad Stadium.
3. Hulk to Zenit St. Petersburg, 2012 – £32m
A brute of a forward – hence the nickname – that has taken a strange career path through Japan and then Porto and now plays in Russia with Zenit.
2. Radamel Falcao to Atletico Madrid, 2011 – £34.7m
One of the most prolific strikers in recent history the Colombia international was arguably even more successful with Atletico before moving to Monaco for £50m in 2013.
1. James Rodriguez to AS Monaco, 2013 – £38.5m
Finally it’s another Colombian that the club from the French top tier signed last summer, although the attacking midfielder spent just one year in the French riviera before Los Blancos snapped him up for £63m.
