Redknapp has already been very active in the summer transfer market but has been encouraged to trim the club’s expansive wage bill and is well aware that forward Loic Remy is keen to secure a move away from the west London side so will look to offer the former Marseille man to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino in a straight swap deal.
Remy’s proposed move to Liverpool fell through over an apparent failed medical but this hasn’t lessened Pochettino’s interest in the forward, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Newcastle United last season, during which he netted 14 goals in 24 Premier League starts.
Tottenham will of course insist on running their own stringent medical assessment of Remy but if he does indeed pass muster then such a move could be of interest to Pochettino.
The Argentine manager has been similarly charged to reduce his large squad and any move to bring in fresh additions with the aid of existing members of his playing staff could help to kill two birds with one stone.
England international winger Townsend had an up and down time of it last term and is a player Pochettino is willing to offload and likewise youngster Harry Kane may be sacrificed if he can bring in a player of Remy’s proven credentials.
