Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a £15m fee for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette according to the Independent.

The Magpies must now work on convincing the 23 year old French international to make the move to St James’ Park, where he will of course be welcomed by a host of fellow countrymen.

Having seen Loic Remy return to QPR following his successful loan spell at the club and watched as Papiss Cisse hit a run of poor form Alan Pardew is right to look to address his side’s attacking flaws.

To this end Newcastle United have already signed Emmanuel Rivière and Ayoze Perez but can certainly with further options.

Lacazette has represented his hometown club since the age of 12 and has been capped twice at full national team level and last term racked up 23 goals in all competitions but his side’s inability to secure a Champions League berth may well lead the forward to consider a move this summer.

Owner Mike Ashley has been happy to invest funds in new additions having seen Newcastle United’s season crippled in January by the sale of Yohan Cabaye to PSG and this summer has seen Mathieu Debuchy move to Arsenal.
