Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is being eyed up by his former club Brondby as well as by La Liga giants Barcelona this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Danish international started his career with Brondby, before his impressive form earned him a big move to Liverpool in 2006, where he has been a key player ever since.
However, there have been some signs of Agger being past his best, with Liverpool possibly happy to let him go this summer as Barcelona also reportedly monitor his situation at Anfield.
The club’s new £20m signing of Dejan Lovren from Southampton could push Agger down in the pecking order in Brendan Rodgers’ side, which could pave way for the player to seek a new challenge and end his long stay with the Merseyside giants.
Agger is one of a number of defensive targets being considered by Barcelona this summer as they seek new signings to strengthen at the back, and Brondby have now emerged as surprise contenders for Agger as well.
It remains to be seen if the 29-year-old will be willing to move to a far less competitive league at this stage of his career, but it could also be tempting for him to return to the club where he first made his name.
